What is Startup Weekend Pittsburgh Women’s Edition?
Startup Weekend Pittsburgh Women’s Edition (SWPWE) is encouraging more women to participate in a 54-hour sprint to create a startup. The team of organizers noticed a gap in female participation at previous Startup Weekend Pittsburgh events, and so we decided to organize a Women’s Edition to showcase the ideas, talent, and drive of women entrepreneurs in Pittsburgh.
If you’re wondering if participants have to work on ideas or companies specific to women or women’s issues, they do not! Participants can work on any idea. The Women’s Edition is simply to encourage more female participation.
From the organizers to the judges to the coaches to the food(!), female entrepreneurs will be highlighted throughout the weekend. We will make every effort to give the participants the best opportunities to start companies, form teams, and continue to be an essential part of the Pittsburgh startup community.
